ANXIETY DISORDER IN CHILDREN

Social anxiety is among the most common psychiatric disorders affecting children at a very young age (as young as 6), although the average age of onset is between 11 and 12. Social phobia tends to be chronic and, if left untreated, persists into adulthood. Historically, social phobia has been minimized as "ch ildhood shyness".
