Introduction

Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam popularly known as A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Dr. Kalam, or “Missile man of India”. He was a scientist, engineer, author and president. Kalam was chosen as the 11th president of India (2002-07) and called the “People’s President”. In 2007 he was succeeded by the first woman president of India, Pratibha Patil. The Wheeler Island was named “Abdul Kalam Island” as the island is missile test facility for India. Kalam died on the evening of July 27, 2015 at the age of 83 years, while he was communicating with the students at the Indian Institute of Management at Shilong. He died doing what he liked the most.
