Insomnia

Insomnia is when you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. Insomnia may happen by itself or it can be comorbid with other illnesses. (Neikrug & Ancoli-Isreal, 2009) Causes of insomnia can be caused by mental and/or physical alertness, as well as environmental factors. While symptoms of insomnia can be “difficulty falling and/or staying asleep, waking up earlier than planned, and not feeling tired or ready for bed at scheduled times.” Insomnia can also be caused by medications or drug use.(Foley, 2020) The impact of insomnia can be far reaching; it can impact your health, your work, your personal relationships, and your ability to think. This is why insomnia is an important problem to solve.
