Although there might be several factors that causes
eating disorder, however; Chengzhi He and Sheyue Xie in a news article
quoted that “because of uncertainty, instability, and superposition of self
and social factors that constitute eating disorder, no definite conclusion
has been found on the causes of eating disorder”,
(Chengzhi He, 2023).Eating
disorders can be caused by a mix of things. Sometimes it starts with wanting
to change how you look, but it can grow into something more serious. Low
self-esteem, stress, or feeling out of control can play a big part. Social
pressure, like what we see on social media or in the media, can also make
people feel like they need to look a certain way. For some, past experiences
like bullying or trauma, or even family issues, can be triggers. It’s
important to know that it’s never just one cause, and it’s not anyone’s
fault.
Nonetheless, poor self-evaluation and lack of self-control can be a leading
cause for eating disorders. Furthermore, individual body awareness,
influence of the society, family as well as friends are other external
factors,
(Chengzhi He, 2023).
