INTRODUCTION
Around the world, there are over thousands of diseases that are
deadly and harmful to humans, and the number is repetitively
changing. The exact number is difficult to determine but some
evaluations suggest that there are more than ten of thousands of
diseases in the world.
What is HIV
HIV is the virus that causes Aids. It attacks the body’s immune
system, specifically the CDA (T-helper) cells, which help to fight
off infections. Over time, HIV can destroy so many of these cells
that the body can’t protect itself from illnesses.
According to Patton, Cindy. (Globalizing AIDS, chapter 6) “No story
of AIDS has ever been adequate, no story trauma can ever really tell
the truth”.
UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPT “AIDS”
AIDS is acquired immune deficiency syndrome; this is a name used to
describe life-threatening illness only when your immune system is
severely damaged by HIV virus.
Now what is HIV?
HIV is human immunodeficiency virus; this virus destroys the cell in
your immune system and is not able to fight everyday disease and
infection.
Aids cannot be transferred to from a person to another, but HIV
virus can. The World Health Organization has made it known that
there is no cure for HIV but there are drugs one can take to make
them live long and healthier. With a timely diagnosis and good
treatments, people living with HIV will not grow any AIDS related
illness and will live a normal lifespan.
