About Stroke
A stroke, sometimes called a brain attack, occurs
when something blocks blood supply to part of the brain or when a blood
vessel in the brain bursts.
In either case, parts of the brain become damaged or die. A stroke can
cause lasting brain damage, long-term disability, or even death.In
Canada, about 55,000 strokes occur each year. It is the main cause of
death and one stroke in in every 10 minutes. In Canada 315,000 Canadians
are living with the after effect of stokes and about 80% to 90% are
disabled. According to Canadian economy $3.6 billion a year stroke costs
in Physician services, hospital cost, lost wages, and decreased
productivity, Stroke is defined as a neurological deficit refer to an
injury of the CNS by a vascular cause. It is a common disease which is
affected to people for lifetime.
