Good sleep hygiene refers to activities and practices that facilitate people to get regular, restful sleep without medication (Christina, 2021). Also referred to as healthy sleep habits, good sleep hygiene is essential for overall good health in the human body. Sleep hygiene is composed of both the sleep environment and sleeping behavior, and poor sleep hygiene negatively impacts both sleep quantity and quality (Suni, 2024). Good sleep hygiene includes activities that create a conducive environment for the relaxation of the mind and the body through setting strict sleep schedules, following bedtime routines, forming and sticking to healthy habits, and optimizing the bedroom for sleep (Suni, 2024). However, having good sleep hygiene does not guarantee a good night's sleep. Therefore, this study explores more on the topic about the following sub-topics: the impact of good sleep hygiene on human health, good sleep hygiene and lifestyle factors and why sleep hygiene practices work in some and fail to work in other cases, and what to do to ensure that the good sleep hygiene works out.
