4th Year Major Project

2008 IMPORTANT DATES:

January 30, 2 pm - Composer Demos and Meet & Greet:
University of Toronto, Faculty of Music (Edward Johnson Building), Room 330

This is the opportunity for you to meet with the UT student composers. Each composer will present an example of their recent music to give you a sense of their musical style. You will then have a chance to talk with them and discuss your project. There will also be computers available to show your Leica reel to prospective composers.

Please bring the following to this session:

• pen & notepad (for noting names and contact info)
  
• your Leica reel on memory stick or disc
  
• your laptop if you prefer
  
• headphones

Note that you must commit to a working partnership with one of these composers within one week (see the "Music Spotting Session" below) so it is important that you stay in contact with them via email.

February 6  - Music Spotting Session
Sheridan College, Lab A151,  2 pm - 4 pm

This is the time for you to sit down at a computer with your composer and carefully talk through all the musical requirements for your film. Bring your Leica reel! With temp music carefully cut in if possible. Be prepared to discuss the following:

• where in your project you need music
• general mood and expression
• special sync points that the music should 'hit'
• character driven musical themes if appropriate
• extra music for titles and/or end credits
• desired musical style
• desired instrumentation
• delivery schedule: i.e. when do YOU need the first draft? the final music files?
• possible changes to length/timing of your project
  

March 28  Track Delivery Deadline (via internet)
This is the latest possible date that the composers can deliver their finished music files to you.
