Causes of Deforestation
Deforestation occurs due primarily to human actions. The increase in population requires an increase in land, food, and resources. This contributes to deforestation. Knowledge about reasons of deforestation makes us find solutions that can be better enforced to save our environment.
Main Causes of Deforestation
1. Agriculture
The largest cause of deforestation is agricultural activities. To cultivate the land and raise livestock, farmers deforest. This is because agricultural lands occupy large land areas, particularly in tropical areas.
2. Logging
Logging entails the process of cutting wood, paper and furniture. Logging is not all illegal and illegal logging also brings severe damage to forests.
3. Urbanization
With the increase in the number of population in the city, the forests are being cleared to construct houses, roads, schools and industries. This contributes to the irreversible disappearance of forests.
4. Mining and Industries
The mining activities demand huge pieces of land. To tap into the minerals, oil, and other natural resources forests are destroyed.
5. Forest Fires
Certain forest fires occur naturally but most occur due to human beings with the aim of clearing up land in a hurry. With these fires, huge forest cover is lost within a short duration of time.
