Types of Internet Crimes

Internet crimes, also known as cybercrimes, include a wide range of illegal activities that are carried out using computers, networks, or digital devices. These crimes exploit the internet's global reach and anonymity, targeting individuals, businesses, and governments. Below are some common types of internet crimes

  1. Hacking:
Hacking involves unauthorized access to computer systems or networks. Cybercriminals may hack into personal accounts, corporate systems, or government databases to steal sensitive information, disrupt operations, or spread malware.
  2. Identity Theft:
In identity theft, criminals obtain personal information such as Social Security numbers, credit card details, or login credentials and use them to impersonate victims. This can lead to financial loss, damaged credit, and legal issues for the victims.
  3. Phising Scams
Phishing is a method where attackers send fake emails or messages posing as legitimate organizations to trick people into revealing confidential information, like passwords or banking details.
  4. Online Harrassment
This includes cyberbullying, stalking, and threats made via email, social media, or messaging platforms. Online harassment can cause serious emotional and psychological harm.
  5. Cyber Fraud
Cyber fraud involves scams such as online auction fraud, fake websites, and investment schemes that deceive users into giving money or sensitive information.
