Globalization is much to blame for the rapid growth in human trafficking. Many people are constantly searching for a better life, and the traffickers are like sharks in that sea. They pick those who are willing to take a chance and who believe, and they enslave them. The number of cases reported to the Department of Justice has increased since the United States implemented the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000. The rise in human trafficking, especially in the sex trade, is largely due to the internet. Technology is playing a significant role in both information distribution and exploitation, making it easier and more frequent for exploiters to reach customers.
