Types and Characteristics of Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs were reptiles that lived during the Mesozoic Era, including the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods. They are divided into two main groups: Saurischian, known as lizard-hipped dinosaurs, and Ornithischian, known as bird-hipped dinosaurs. Each species had unique characteristics that made them different from others.
Some dinosaurs were herbivores, meaning they ate plants such as leaves and ferns. Dinosaurs like Triceratops and Stegosaurus had flat teeth that helped them crush plant material, and they often moved in groups for protection. Other dinosaurs were carnivores, meaning they ate meat. Tyrannosaurus Rex had powerful jaws and sharp teeth, making it a strong predator.
Dinosaurs also
varied greatly in size, ranging from small, chicken-sized species to
massive ones like Argentinosaurus, which could reach up to 30 meters in
length. Some discoveries also suggest that certain dinosaurs may have
had feathers and could have been warm-blooded.
