Prevention
Diet, environment, and inherent risk factors all have an impact on cardiovascular diseases (CVD). To avoid CVD, practice good behaviours such as a balanced diet, frequent physical activity, reduced stress, and strong social support. The American Heart Association and Dietary Guidelines advocate stopping smoking, treating high blood pressure and diabetes, getting 150 minutes of exercise each week, and reducing alcohol use. Obesity and overweight are both risk factors. Consume less calories, restrict cholesterol-rich meals, and eat more potassium-rich foods. Dietary programmes such as the Ornish plan can assist cardiac patients in removing harmful plaques.
