A thorough examination of available literature, both peer-reviewed journal articles (referred to as white literature) and governmental and organizational resources (known as grey literature), was undertaken to identify sources of data regarding the mental health of Canadian military Veterans. The review aimed to establish connections between these sources and to uncover any existing policies or guidelines related to the sharing of information across them.
The results of this review revealed the existence of ten distinct data sources concerning the mental health of military Veterans in Canada, with notable examples being Statistics Canada datasets and administrative data from Veterans Affairs Canada. These sources are shared through various methods, each with its own advantages and drawbacks. However, no specific policies or guidelines were identified that address the sharing of information among these datasets.
