Musculoskeletal Health and Strength

Strengthening bones, joints, and muscles requires exercise. Strength training and weightlifting exercises is useful for giving strength to bones and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Strength training increases muscle strength, flexibility, and coordination—all of which are particularly beneficial for senior citizens (Rebecca & Miriam, 2003). Frequent strength training increases range of motion and lowers the risk of falls. Exercises involving weight bearing and resistance training increase bone density and lower the risk of osteoporosis.
