Public Awareness and Education
Raising public awareness has been a key strategy in reducing the spread of HIV. Bell, Selby, and McMicken's (2011) emphasize the importance of education programs in schools and national health campaigns. These initiatives teach people about safer sex practices, needle exchange programs, and the importance of regular testing.
Espejo (2012) also mentions that many public health campaigns focus on high-risk populations, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, drug users, and youth. Although awareness efforts have improved, misinformation and myths about HIV/AIDS still exist and must be continuously addressed.
