Welcome to Mental Health and Aging

This website is based on a research paper by Amira Awad, a student at Sheridan College.

aging

It explores how aging impacts mental health through emotional challenges, cognitive changes, biological processes, and environmental factors. As the global population ages, it is more important than ever to understand and support mental well-being in older adults.

As the global population ages, mental health becomes a vital part of aging well. Older adults face unique challenges — from emotional shifts like grief and loneliness to cognitive changes such as memory loss or dementia. Aging also brings major life transitions, including retirement and caregiving, which demand emotional resilience. With early support, community care, and ongoing mental engagement, older adults can enjoy a better quality of life. This project explores these challenges and offers insights into how we can better support mental health in later life.
