Stages of Breast cancer

Introduction

“Breast cancer” is among the most widespread and deadly cancers, affecting hundreds of millions globally, mostly females, though occasionally males. The disease results when abnormal cells start to grow unchecked in the breasts, forming an invasive malignant mass that can start to invade and damage surrounding tissue or spread into other parts of the body. In recent times, the trend of “Breast cancer” has been upward, influenced by genetic predispositions, lifestyle and dietary habits, hormonal factors, and environmental factors. While a history of “Breast cancer” in the family and inherited genetic mutations, particularly BRCA1 and BRCA2, definitely increases the risk, modifiable risk factors are also involved- being overweight and obese, heavy alcohol consumption, and physical inactivity. Medical progress in technology in screening practices such as mammography and even genetic testing has resulted in detecting early cases, therefore improving survival rates.
