There are many and important effects of acid rain on the environment. A
drop in calcium and magnesium and the release of aluminum are the
results of mined soil becoming acidic for plants (Meng et al., 2019). A
lack of balance in nutrients in the soil stops plants and soil bacteria
from working properly and harms the forest. The acidic rain tends to
lower pH which in turn can reduce the number of species present and
result in the deaths of many freshwater fish (Grennfelt et al., 2020).
Due
to acid rain, things made from limestone or marble, like archeological
sites, statues and buildings, are damaged over time. Since these matters
arise, expenses for keeping and fixing a car may increase. The gases SO₂
and NOₓ in acid rain do not harm people directly, but they are
responsible for many breathing problems (Bridgham et al., 2013).
