The World Health Organisation (WHO 2021) recommends at least 150 minutes a week’s worth of moderate to vigorous physical activity to reduce the chances of contracting heart diseases and death. Cardiovascular exercise is exercising such as jogging, cycling or swimming, which increases heart and lung fitness.
The physical activity guidelines were not met by 50 % of healthcare professionals attending a psychiatry congress of a Dutch hospital. It is similar to the general population. People stay active how due to cultural preferences, such as cycling in the Netherlands.
